50 boats sailed past the Commodore and received a gun salute at our 50th Anniversary Celebration in October 2006

Hoo Ness is a friendly yacht club on the north side of the River Medway, opposite Chatham Maritime and Gillingham. It is easily accessed from London and all parts of Kent and provides access to some of the best sheltered sailing waters in the UK, with easy access to the Thames Estuary and beyond. The club is owned by its members and we practise self-help as far as possible to minimise the cost of membership. Although most of our members own sailing cruisers, we also have some members with motor cruisers and a few who have dinghies.

The club has plenty of moorings on the river and is adjacent to Hoo Marina, which has floating and mud berths. We provide facilities for winter lay-up and can provide most services expected of a modern yacht club.

Sailing activities include regular cruises, mostly to the East Coast, and some serious and less serious races. The club also hosts the winter classic dinghy race, the Hoo Freezer. We have a full social programme based on our clubhouse. Bar and catering services are provided at the weekend and the bar is open at lunch time during the week.
