50 boats sailed past the Commodore and received a gun salute at our 50th Anniversary Celebration in October 2006

Hoo Ness is a friendly yacht club on the north side of the River Medway, opposite Chatham Maritime and Gillingham. It is easily reached from London, Kent and the M25 and provides access to some excellent sheltered sailing waters, leading to the Thames Estuary and beyond. The club is owned by its members and we practise self-help as far as possible to minimise the cost of membership. Although most of our members own sailing cruisers, we also have some with motor cruisers and a few with dinghies.

The club has plenty of moorings on the river and is adjacent to Hoo Marina, (01634 250311) which has floating and mud berths. We have facilities for winter lay-up and can provide most services expected of a modern yacht club.

Sailing activities include regular cruises, mostly to the East Coast, and some serious and less serious races. The club also hosts the winter classic dinghy race, the Hoo Freezer. We have a full social programme based on our clubhouse. Bar and catering services are provided at the weekend.
